Physical Health

Nursing

Health is the foundation of a fulfilling life, impacting our physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Nursing plays a vital role in maintaining and improving health by providing compassionate care, education, and support to patients. Nurses are crucial in diagnosing, treating, and preventing illnesses, ensuring people receive the best possible care. Their expertise and dedication help communities stay healthier and recover faster, making nursing an essential part of any healthcare system.

Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapy is essential for helping individuals regain or develop the skills needed for daily living and working. It focuses on promoting independence and improving quality of life for people with physical, mental, or developmental challenges. By addressing both the physical and psychological aspects of recovery, occupational therapy plays a critical role in supporting individuals’ overall well-being and enabling them to lead fulfilling lives.

Occupational Therapy

Cassie works with the The Antioch Partners member care team to provide essential support to TAP Partners and their families, as well as the local churches and ministries with whom TAP collaborates. She is an Occupational Therapist who helps people thrive through the discipline of OT, by holistically considering how cognitive, physical, and emotional systems of the body work together to help people and communities flourish.

Cassie, who grew up in Boulder, has earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Masters in Occupational Therapy. Before joining TAP, Cassie worked as an Occupational Therapist for over nine years, evaluating and treating adults in rehabilitation settings, as well as the pediatric population in the home healthcare setting. Cassie is excited to join other professionals to serve the global church as TAP’s Occupational Therapy Consultant.

Cassie and Michael have one girl and three boys and live in Colorado Springs where Michael serves as Associate Pastor at First Presbyterian Church. The Thornton family enjoys hiking, camping, and doing just about anything outside.

Joining TAP aligns Cassie’s skillset and passion like never before. Cassie has served in Brazil, South Africa, Turkey, Nicaragua, Tanzania, and Kenya. What a joy for Cassie to now serve the global church by participating in God’s mission throughout the world with TAP.

Emotional Health

Counseling

Counseling is past focused with a desire to understand our narratives and relationships and how these impact the current and future self. A counselor is a trained professional in a therapeutic process who can help an individual explore and manage personal issues which can range from mental health concerns to emotional difficulties or challenges. A counselor may offer advice or expertise.

Spiritual Direction

Spiritual direction is present focused on what God is doing right now in your life. A spiritual director is a trained listener who will accompany you as you share about your spiritual journey, helping you to notice God’s presence and activity along the way, as well as your personal reactions and responses. A spiritual director offers hospital space with gentle questions.

Coaching

Coaching is focused on the present and future. The past is explored only as it offers you greater awareness for what is hindering you to move toward your current desires. A coach is a partner in your journey toward self-discovery and awareness, supporting you as you implement change or act upon a desired goal. A coach does not offer advice but gives support, encouragement, and accountability toward the change you desire.
