About Us

The Antioch Partners Summary

TAP is expanding long-term (two years or more), cross-cultural, incarnational ministry opportunities for Presbyterians. Our conviction is that every follower of Jesus is a missionary (a “sent one”), but for those called to long-term, cross-cultural engagement, special training and support structures are necessary, and this is what TAP provides. TAP works alongside local Presbyterian churches in the US to help people get from where they are now to where God is calling them to be, and then not just to survive, but to thrive, in their ministry callings. Specifically, TAP serves local churches in the assessment, training, sending and support of those called to long-term, cross-cultural engagement.

Key Aspects of The Antioch Partners

PARTICIPATION IN DISCERNMENT PROCESS

We are committed to participating in the discernment process with those sensing God’s call to cross-cultural ministry. We are eager to assist people as they walk through the discernment process, whether or not TAP turns out to be the best sending agency option for them.

PLACEMENT PRIORITIES

TAP’s two main placement priorities are working among unreached/least-reached people groups, and capacity-building with global partners.

ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE

We are committed to a flat, lean, flexible organizational structure where we collaborate, outsource and synergize so as to more effectively use Kingdom resources.

FIRST WHO, THEN WHAT*

We focus on appointing those who have a clear sense of call to long-term, cross-cultural engagement (and this call has been affirmed by their home church) and have the gifts and abilities to thrive in this arena. We then work with global partners to identify appropriate roles for these servants.

* This phrase comes from Jim Collin’s book, Good to Great.

PARTNER SUPPORT TEAMS

TAP Partners develop their own support teams (this includes raising financial support and recruiting prayer partners) with assistance from TAP staff.

MEMBER CARE

We believe effective member care (missionary care) is essential, and this can only happen when Partner support teams, local ministry partners and TAP staff all work together to create communities of care for cross-cultural servants.
